This workshop will run in four parts:

 Part 2 - Wednesday 18 November 2020

Participants join senior AAI advocacy instructors on-line in an interactive discussion covering a general

introduction to advocacy, how to develop an effective case theory and how to bring that to a persuasive argument.

PART 3 - Thursday 19 November 2020

5.00pm* to 6.00pm BRISBANE time

(6.00pm to 7.00pm SYDNEY/MELB TIME)

The discussion continues with techniques in questioning a witness and skills in communication in court.

Part 4 - Saturday 21 November 2020

9.00am* to 3.00pm BRISBANE time

(10.00am to 4.00pm SYDNEY/MELB TIME)

Participants break into small groups for a day of performance and review on a range of advocacy tasks.

         You will be taken to the AAI Workshop Zoom waiting room.

 

If you are experienced teaching online ... quick instructions here, otherwise detailed instructions below:On logging into workshop, the AAI Coordinator will admit you then change you to "CO-HOST" status and move you to the INSTRUCTORS ROOM. On Wed/Thurs, "LEAVE ROOM" (not LEAVE MEETING) to move to the General SessionsThe AAI Co-Ord will move all the participants for ALL sessions Wed/Thu/Sat.On Saturday:The AAI Coordinator will first move you into the INSTRUCTORS ROOMThen you JOIN your allocated group at each session commencement time (button in "Breakout Rooms" menu)At end of each session - JOIN the INSTRUCTORS ROOM (so AAI Co-Ord can see your group has finished)"LEAVE ROOM" from any Group/Inst room to go to General Sessions.

 

More detailed instructions:

Once admitted to the workshop, all Instructors and participants will be together in the General Session room.

The Wednesday and Thursday sessions are held in this General Session room. Saturday sessions are in General and Breakout rooms.

 

All Instructors should start each session in “Gallery View”. Other Instructors and participants will show as thumbnail images.

In Zoom settings, accessed by clicking the camera menu at bottom left of screen, please ensure that in the "Video" option,

then “Meetings”, “Always display participant name” is checked.

 

The AAI Coordinator will then change your status to "CO-HOST":

  • This allows you to JOIN your allocated GROUP ROOM (button in 'Breakout Rooms' menu). See the Group Instructor Schedule + Participant Number allocations as usual.
  • and ... Lets you JOIN the INSTRUCTOR'S ROOM at end of each group session.  This lets the AAI CoOrd know your group has finished.

The AAI Coordinator will move all participants to their allocated Group Breakout Room.

 

1. Remote procedure for all General Sessions, Wednesday & Thursday:

On Wednesday and Thursday, the INSTRUCTORS room will open at 4.30pm (EST ... Brisbane time).

 

At 5pm when the General Sessions open, all Instructors "LEAVE ROOM" to return to the General Session.

Please be present on screen in the General Session.

 

An AAI Coordinator will be monitoring the workshop constantly. If you lose connection during the session, re-join with the original meeting ID and password. The AAI Coordinator will readmit you. If you do not get a response, please text to 0418 473 303.

 

2. Remote procedure for all Workshop Group Sessions on Saturday:

On Saturday, the INSTRUCTORS room will open at 8.30am (EST ... Brisbane time).

 

At the commencement time for each GROUP Session:

- Please JOIN your allocated Group (button in 'Breakout Room' menu).

- Once in GROUP room, instructor then:

- Requests all participants have their microphone on MUTE.

- Requests all participants keep their camera ON with participant visible on-screen.

- Instructors keep your camera turned ON with you visible on-screen.

- When there are TWO Instructors in a Group Breakout Room, ensure the participants know which Instructor is
  'lead' for each performance/review.

In Sessions 1 & 5 (i.e. with no witness), for each performance the AAI Instructor:

At the start of each performance:

  • Requests participant to turn their microphone ON.
  • Requests participant to have the 'lead' AAI Instructor pinned large on-screen.
  • Requests participant to keep microphone ON during the review.

Request the performer to turn their microphone to MUTE following the review.

In Sessions 2 & 4 (i.e. with a witness), for each performance the AAI Instructor:

At the start of each performance:

  • Nominates the participant who will act as witness.
  • Requests BOTH to turn their microphone ON.
  • Requests the performing participant to pin the witness large on their screen.
  • Requests the witness to pin the performer large on their screen.

At the end of each performance, before the Review:

  • Request the witness to turn microphone to MUTE and pin the 'lead' AAI instructor on-screen.
  • Request the performer to pin the 'lead' AAI Instructor large on-screen with microphone ON during the review.
  • Instructor to use the performer as witness during the review demonstration.

Request the performer to turn their microphone to MUTE following the review.

 

Contact or text the AAI Coordinator on 0418 473 303 if you need assistance.  If you lose connection during the session, re-join with the original meeting ID and password. The AAI Coordinator will admit you. If you do not get a response, please text to 0418 473 303.

 

3. Between sessions and during breaks:

- The AAI Coordinator will move you to the INSTRUCTOR"S ROOM and/or to your next GROUP breakout room.

 

4. If you lose connection during the workshop:

- An AAI Coordinator will be monitoring the workshop constantly.  If for any reason you drop-out of the workshop, re-join with the
  original meeting ID and password and the Coordinator will readmit you to the workshop and/or breakout room.

- If you do not get a response, please text to 0418 473 303.

 

If you wish to test your connection, the AAI Coordinator will be available to do a quick test run during the week before the workshop.
